The grand opening for the ninth annual Lambing Flat Chinese Festival Sculpture, Wood and Big Art Exhibition 2017 will take place Wednesday evening, 22 March at 7pm at the Young Town Hall, Boorowa Street, Young.

The exhibition, organized by The Young Society of Artists Inc. will run until Sunday, 26 March 2017.

Various Hilltops artists will be presenting their works. Included in the line up is local sculptor, Terry Howe as well as resident artists Christine Jurd and Sue Stevens-Jones, all winners of awards.

With more than 160 entries, artists also hail from as far as the Blue Mountains, Yass and Wagga Wagga and their works in many mediums range from contemporary to traditional.

Special guest artist for this 2017 exhibition is Grenfell artist Kathleen McCue. She is a multi-talented sculptor and paint artist. Her works have been featured in many exhibitions plus are on permanent display in Patina Gallery, Grenfell which is owned by Kathleen.

A warm invitation is extended to members of the public to the official opening on Wednesday evening. The $5 entry fee includes light refreshments, live music, along with plenty of fine art plus the opportunity to win a lucky door prize.

NOTE:

The Burragong Gallery’s (located at the Young Railway Station) current exhibition “Mirrway Maarung” (Painting in Circles) by Guest Artists Enid Clarke and Friends is open daily from 9am until 5pm at the Young Visitor’s Centre until 22 April, 2017.

This exhibition which features works by members of the Wiraduri mob will be followed by the annual Blokes Exhibition. Each year the Young Society of Artists Inc. invite males to step forward and be counted as a collective group. As in past years this exhibition is guaranteed to offer unexpected perspectives to the viewer.
