Cootamundra Police have arrested and charged a 40 year old man from Young and a 44 year old man from Cowra with Robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon, Possess prohibited drug and escape lawful custody after an incident in South Gundagai early on Saturday the 18/3/2017.
Police will allege the two men went to a house in South Gundagai armed with metal poles and a knife, where they gained entry and assaulted a 33 year old Gundagai male, including using a cattle prod on him a number of times. During this they stole a number of items including an amount of Cannabis and mobile phones.
A single unit officer from Gundagai police station attended the location and confronted both offenders in the home whilst they were still armed. They dropped the weapons when challenged, and when being taken into custody one of the males has fled the scene, however the officer was able to secure the second male. The male who fled was arrested a short time later at a local service station.
Cootamundra LAC Detectives interviewed both males and they have been issued Court Attendance Notices to attend Wagga Local Court on the 19/3/2017 with bail refused.
