Max Spackman with Grandfather David ‘Dad’ Coggan at the Harden Cricket Club on Saturday February 4. David was recognised for his career which spanned 40 years.

A function was held on Saturday February 4 at midday in the Harden Cricket Club House, to honour the superb Cricketing Career of David Coggan. David was in attendance, to hear a resume of the forty years in which he played the game from 1960 to 2000. David Coggan, originally represented Jugiong for many years, before joining Harden when Jugiong folded. Whilst with Harden Dave (who was also affectionately known as DAD) played in the Merrin Cup and the Windsor Cup Competitions.

As well as playing as a Harden Rep. with the Cootamundra Association in the prestigious O’Farrell Cup challenges. David was a left-handed batsman who scored a multitude of runs, as well as being a partnership breaking cagey off-spin bowler. The principal object of the get together on Saturday, was to officially recognise the record David created here locally, when on February 21 1988 he was batting for Jugiong in the Windsor Cup Competition at Robert’s Park. David scored 211 Runs (not-out) in his innings. This record high score still stands today. David donated his cricket bat to the Harden Club, as a kind gesture and it was much appreciated. The Bat now stands proudly in a pride of place in Harden Club house museum.
