15 year old Rosemaree Irving has returned from a week long camp in Melbourne with Australian Socceroo superstar Tim Cahill. Rosemaree won her spot on the Foxtel sponsored camp, as one of 24 teenagers nationwide who partook in the all expenses paid trip. Rosemaree got to watch the Melbourne City v Central Coast Mariners match as well as play in two matches against the other squad members. Mum Jemma said “It included return flights, 3 lots of training gear including new boots, and soccer ball.” Rosemaree learnt all about what it takes to be a professional sportsperson from training and skills to nutrition. Rosemaree said “Tim Cahill was great he spent a lot of time with us over the week.” She first played soccer as a 5 year old and returned to the game in the last couple of years. She trained twice a day at the camp and it has now spurred her on to continue to play soccer and keep fit. She hopes to play at Harden this season and was coached by Roger Douglass last year. “It’s great playing and learning from Roger, he is a really good coach he makes it fun.” Rosemaree has helped put Harden on the map explaining to her fellow squad members where the twin towns arefrom new friends as far away as Perth. The entire squad including Cahill are keeping in touch on instagram and Rosemaree will be closely following the international star who has inspired her to try her best at the round ball game.
