Local connections have been performing well lately in the thoroughbred world with Nick Heywood riding Moher home in first place at Randwick on Saturday. The 20 year old hoop got Magicaz home at Warwick farm on Decemeber 14 and Jolie’s Pearl at Hawksbury on December 4. Over the next 4 days he will compete at Warwick Farm, Wyong, Wagga and Rosehill with 14 rides. Heywood has ridden 450 horses over the last 12 months with 61 wins, 71 seconds and 65 thirds. Scott Spackman has been in very good training form with recent wins with Didn’t Even Kiss Me getting home at Wagga on December 15 and Coota on December 10. Black Fusion came home in second place at both Wagga and Coota also. Chris Heywood claimed a first place at Coota with Fermanagh Lad and Mitchell Road was first over the line at Wagga Riverside on December 3. Local trainer Robert Leitner is currently trialling a couple of new horses which may run in the new year break. Local man Jayson Smith was out to impress when he took out best dressed gent at Coota Races on December 14.
