Sharon, Monica and Julie. The Galong Patch Work Group have been raising funds in conjunction with their gatherings which they hold twice a week at the Galong Tennis court building. They also raised funds through raffles when they had a retreat at St.Clements. This year they decided to donate their funds in the form of a cheque for $2,000 to Harden’s Can Assist to assist patients with their treatment. Sharon McCaskill, wife of Galong’s village post office and general store proprietor, Bill and nurse at the Kruger Medical Centre has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Incidentally, Sharon shaved her head for a cure and raised $4,000 a while back. Little did she know she would be affected by the disease. She joked, “I am minus my hair again and am really looking forward to it growing back. It will be interesting to see what colour it is.” Monica thanked the Group and said CanAssist appreciates all the assistance they get. She said their aim is to help as many people as possible during the difficult times.
