Jugiong man Wes Leseberg will be up in lights on the silver screen when The Legend of Ben Hall screens in Cinemas soon. Dates are being finalised for the feature length film which will have special screenings in Young and Forbes as well as Canberra and Sydney. Parts of the film were shot in Jugiong and Forbes as well as Victoria. Wes is a policeman by day and he got to play a policeman in the movie. Wes portrays the brave trooper Sargeant Edmund Parry who is killed in a gun battle with the Ben Hall gang. He said “It was an honour to play Parry, I grew up in Jugiong and know his story well, hopefully the new movie will change the way people think about the police in those days. The Ned Kelly movie made them out to be the bad guys but the police were there to protect the people. The Hall gang robbed 60 people rich or poor alike and Parry wouldn’t give up trying to protect them. His final words were “I’ll never surrender”.” Wes is heavily involved in the Sergeant Parry Day which will be held on November 19. We will be talking to Wes over the coming weeks about the Parry Day and the feature film The Legend of Ben Hall. You never know the silver screen may have found its next star.
