IS THE CHURCH STILL RELEVANT? Yes, that is the provoking topic to be tackled by guest speaker Don Jamieson at the next Men’s Breakfast. The Men’s Breakfast will be held on Saturday 12th November at 8.00 am in the Uniting Church Hall, Binalong Street, Harden. It will conclude by 10.00 am. The cost of the full cooked breakfast is $15 payable at the door. This breakfast is a joint initiative of the Uniting and Anglican churches of Harden/Murrumburrah. To assist with catering, reservations should be made with either Neville Alcorn (6386 2157) or Stewart Bruce (6386 3074 or 0423 090 912) on or before Wednesday, 9th November. Don is a well-known local who is also Deacon of St Paul’s Anglican Church, Murrumburrah. He has written three books on pastoral care and is a member of a number of community groups. Don is a former primary/secondary teacher, ex-principal of Murrumburrah Public School and one-time General Coordinator of Trinity School’s Secondary Department. Don’s talk will explore some of the issues churches face in today’s society and whose relevance is often questioned. He will also discuss ways in which churches might become more relevant to the world in which we live. The breakfast is open to any men of the district regardless of any church affiliations – just an interest in meeting with other locals and engaging with interesting speakers. These breakfasts are planned for every 3 months.
