James Blair on the charge for the Brahmans this year.

The Binalong Brahmans Rugby League Club held their Annual General Meeting on Thursday 27th October at the Binalong Hotel. The Chairman, Ben Spencer addressed the meeting and expressed his wish to thank all the Club’s sponsors throughout 2016 for their support. “Without our sponsors there just is no game and I especially want to thank our major sponsor Mr. Stan Waldren for his ongoing support of the Brahmans.” “I also want to thank all our volunteers this season, it has been a tough year but we got through it and our ground staff, coaching squad and canteen workers, you all did a marvellous job”, Spencer remarked.

The Brahmans finished the year with a satisfactory bottom line in terms of accounting, in spite of some poor weather on game days. “We were pleased with our 25 year Woodbridge Cup Anniversary Match against Burrangong during the season” Ben commented. “We didn’t win a lot of first grade games during the year but we are proud of our League tag girls who made the semi-finals and our Youth League team who made it to a Grand Final”. The Brahmans intend to return to George Tooke Shield in 2017, pending approval by the Board of Canberra Raiders Cup. The Club is seeking players for next winter but has already done preliminary recruiting with some success to replace players who will be moving on and several retirements. “I have spoken with Andrew Pull of Woodbridge Cup and notified him that we will be leaving his competition in 2017 and I thanked him for his support during our 2 years there”. The annual election resulted in Ben Spencer being re-elected unopposed as Chairman, Ali Spencer as Secretary and Helen Hannaford as Treasurer in 2017. Training is likely to commence in early February next year.
