TNT Founder Ken Thomas To Be Honored With Plaque At Australian Truck Driver’s Memorial In Tarcutta

Born in Murrumburrah in 1913 Ken Thomas went on to build the largest transport company in Australia.

The Harden Murrumburrah Historical Society invites all, who would like to attend the 23rd Annual Remembrance Day Service to be held at Tarcutta on Saturday 29 October 2016. This year TNT have sponsored a $3,000 plaque at the request of the HM Society and Ken Thomas who founded the largest transport company will be honoured with the first position on the plaque. Ken Thomas was born in Murrumburrah 15 June 1913 to parents Arthur (Gart ) and Elizabeth. He bought his first truck in 1946 and 25 years later he owned the largest transport company in Australia which was sold to Fed-Ex in 2015 for $4.8 billion. The Australian Truck Drivers Committee organises the annual event at Tarcutta to honour the truckers who perished on our nation’s roads. Memorial Park is the venue and the service will begin at 1 pm. BYO chair as seating is limited. Flowers are welcomed to be placed on loved one’s names. A complimentary afternoon tea will be available for a gold coin donation. Some official ATDM Merchandise will be for sale after the service. A Memorial Dinner will be held at Mater Dei Primary School, Gregadoo Road Wagga 6.30 pm for 7pm. RSVP 17 October 2016.
