Local lady Kylie Douglass has purchased with husband Ryan, another Hairdressing business in Yass. This second business will compliment her salon in Young, “Raven Hair and Body”. The Yass Salon will be “Raven Hair at Yass”. Kylie has been in the industry for 15 years, beginning her apprenticeship in Cootamundra with Julianne Smart. After completing her apprentice ship Kylie worked in Canberra for a time before returning to Cootamundra. After taking a break in Queensland working at a resort, she returned to Young and worked at another salon before she took the opportunity to buy Ciao Bella.
Kylie and Ryan were looking for an opportunity when this salon became available. They felt that Yass with its large population and proximity to Canberra would be an ideal setting for a new business for them. Kylie said, “I have a third year apprentice Jacki Cahill, but will be looking for a senior to work in the salon.” In the mean time one of the Young staff will alternate with Kylie to travel to Yass to work. Kylie says she loves her job. She credits Ryan, her husband as the back bone of the business. She said they wanted to create a future for their two daughters, Indigo and Emmerson.
