Local boys Ben Gorham (left) & Wil Stanley (right) competed at the Nationals event for the NSW Sports Shear Team which was held at Warialda over the weekend. All states were represented and the boys were shearing against Australia’s best shearers. Ben competed in the Seniors Divison and was up against some very tough competitors. He shore extremely well and came an outstanding 3rd place. An amazing effort and well done Ben. Wil competed in the Novice division and also faced some tough competition. He also shore extremely well and took out 1st place by a healthy lead in the end. Wil also took out the Australian Novice Shearer of the Year. A huge effort and congratulations to you Wil. You never cease to amaze. The NSW boys did their State, home towns, and families extremely proud. They definitely had the most vocal cheer squad throughout the whole competition. The boys would like to thank all of the NSW Team Managers/organisers (Jamie Clout, Simon Leonard and Jim Murray) and the other NSW team members for their guidance, support and encouragement. It was great to see some of the more experienced NSW shearers taking the time and supporting their junior shearers especially Wayne Hosie, Shaun Wilson and Steve Hogan. What an amazing experience for these two young shearers who both have a very big future ahead of them by the looks of it. GO NSW!
