Reuben Irving declaring the Corridor of Life officially open in front of a gathering of 80 people.

Sunday 11th September saw the official opening of the Corridor of Life, on the corner of Iris and Albury Sts Murrumburrah. This has been President of Can Assist Monica O’Connor’s passion and it was great to see it come to fruition. The area will be used in a very meaningful way and acknowldeges the very generous bequest made by Graham and Patricia Kemp. Following the opening a High Tea was held at Barnes Emporium, with some favourite entertainers, Brian Allen, Peter and Julie O’Connor and Harry Cleverdon providing some light entertainment. The September meeting of Can Assist was held on Wednesday 7th September with a good attendance.  We were advised a recent birthday celebration for a 90 y/o local lady realised a donation of $300 to Can Assist, when the birthday girl requested no presents, however a donation be made to Can Assist. What a wonderful gesture – we are very grateful for this donation.

During the last few weeks the CEO of Can Assist Matthew Gericatano has resigned and Kay Hull has resigned from the Board. Both of these people have moved on to other projects out side of Can Assist, noting they believe their work with restructuring Can Assist is complete. No details are currently available of their replacements.  The next meeting will be the AGM, with all positions being vacated. Members are asked to please consider any of the positions; it can be a very worthwhile experience, knowing you are involved with such a positive organisation and that you are really doing something for your community. The AGM will be followed by the normal October meeting. We hope to see you on Wednesday October 5th October at 7pm in Kruger Medical Centre. If you need any information on Can Assist or you require assistance please contact Harden Hospital 6386 2200. Remember. You Will Never Walk Alone.
