First Grade
1. Adam Byrnes – Safe as a bank at the back, his support play around the middle of the field is first rate. 2. Josh Quinn – Playing in his first Grand Final. In his father’s footsteps will be heard far and wide all day barking instructions to his team mates. 3. Chris Salway – Rock solid defender has formed a nice combination with his good mate Matt McLay down the left side. 4. Jayson Smith – the real quiet achiever of the side, just goes about his business week after week without much fuss. Robust defender who never takes a backward step. 5. Andrew Jones – Bull calf who has run into some vintage form of late, looking to continue on with that and claim his second premiership with the Hawks. 6. Matt McLay – Can singlehandedly take the game by the scruff of the neck with his powerful running and passing game. Vital player in our quest for victory. 7. Nathan Schofield – Compliments his five eight perfectly plus has a great kicking game. Can sniff out a gap in the opposition’s defensive line in a blink. Leading goal kicker. 8. Luke (FUI) Stanton – Our workaholic front rower. Solid as a rock week in week out. 9. Luke Brown © – Has relished the switch back to hooker this season , high work rate and a fantastic support player. Can find the try line evidenced by his leading try scorer award for the group this year. 10. Tyson Astill – Returned to the Hawks nest this season, is a valuable member of the side with his work rate in both attack and defence, only needs a 2 minutes rest before he is ready to charge in again. 11. Rhett Foreman – Hard straight running second rower, who causes opposition sides headaches whenever he runs the footy. Equally as punishing in defence. 12. Simon Snedden – Another vital cog in our side, his experience and his ability to get quick play the balls and offloads to players into space will play a big part in the result. 13. Luke Snedden – Is as tough as they come. His work rate has to be seen to be believed, coupled with his knack of getting the ball away at times has to be seen to be believed. These abilities make him a hugely important player. 14. Chris Mason – Terrier like player who rips into the opposition with no self-preservation adds plenty coming on fresh. Proudly rates himself as superior in sprint challenges against his girlfriend. 15. Charlie Butt – The most improved player this year without doubt. Never takes a backward step, charges in to the defence like a bull at a gate. 16. Jesse Acheson – Great team man, goes out and does his job every week without fail. Very popular member of our side. 17. Riley Manwaring – Speed to burn and deceptively strong to go with it. Strike weapon with a big role to play, will support all day. 18. John Hill – The old man of the side has been a most welcoming addition this season. A calming influence on his teammates. 19. Chris James – Another returning Hawk who, as always, has been a most welcome addition back to our team. Has filled in most positions this year and done so magnificently. The joker of the pack. Will lead the celebration well into the night. 20 – Daniel Drew – Back to attempt premiership number 2, our utility player with both talent and speed galore. 21. Mick Quinn (Coach) – Whilst his demeanour on the side line looks cool and calm you can guarantee that inside, his mind and guts are doing cart wheels. A lifetime of football knowledge is shared via the boys preparation and match play every week and you will hear this Rooster’s crow long and hard with a GF win come Saturday.
