JORDAN MENZ: The oldest player and a head of hair to show it, Menzy was nominated as the player of the competition, as he is the powerhouse at the back who produces try scoring charges up the centre and pulls off the big hits of the game. TOM BUTT: Fog-horn of the team, Buttsy can be heard from all over the field, has the ability to produce some strong and well-needed hitups and score tries in crucial moments, has developed a strong partnership off James Houghton and Mark Veness and can be relied upon to finish off. JAMES HOUGHTON: Coming from Woodbridge Cup the Hoot has a tendency to be an aggressive player, consistently producing high defensive efforts and making a lot of strong charges down the left hand edge always troubling his opposite number. MARK VENESS: Most under rated player of the team with high try scoring abilities and a weapon in defence, which takes the spotlight away from the fact that he’s from Rye Park. BLANE WHYBROW: Scruff is the seedy winger of the side, with solid defence and strong runs from hooker, which is produced off the back of some highly motivating speeches from dad Zeek. WIL STANLEY: A high quality player who would ditch the boys for a herd of sheep any day of the week. Can pull something out from nothing with his skillful playmaking skills, this ability helps create space for his outside backs + he has speed to burn, leave the handpiece at home this weekend Stanley . HAMISH BRADFORD: Nominated as player of the year within the Youth competition, Bradford steers the team into line at the critical moments within the game, he lays a platform for the backs, and securing wins with his A grade kicking abilities, hope the score board reflects his winning hairstyles. ZAC PIRIE: The fitness icon of the team, Pirie loves to train has the top attendance rates at training this Year. Pirie is the enforcer of the team, being the highest try scorer in the forwards, showing his leadership by his actions. CRAIG MASON: Living in the shadow of his older brother, Maso ‘s solid defence and quick deliveries from dummy half is the core of the Hawks offensive plays, Gopher Junior will certainly tackle his heart out. WILL QUINN: The giant of the team, Will is a workhorse in attack constantly troubling his opponents in the front line – gets the Hawks off to a good start each game. His strong work rate has given him opportunities to step up for first grade on many occasions throughout the year a task which doesn’t daunt the Mighty Quinn. JACK QUINN: A playmaker stuck in the body of a forward, Quinny missed out on the height genes of his family but will put his body on the line in both attack and defence even from an offside position – can be relied upon every game. PATRICK SMITH: Favoured position is on the right side of the field, so he can get close to Blane Whybrow. Patty is the utility player of the team being able to play anywhere and still performs with high quality minutes every game, self-confessed star in the Smith Family. CHRIS FREDERICKS: Captain courageous who is the heart and soul of the Hawks squad. Weight for age he produces week in, week out with solid defensive efforts and try assists. Come Saturday you can guarantee Freddo will leave the field leaving nothing left in the tank, Freddo will be seen leading the team chants and it is rumoured that he will even make a guest appearance at the girls victory chant wearing Molly’s undies. ZAC COFFEY: With loads of speed, Coff is the flying winger that can burn his opponents when put into space. When he gets fired up he can pull off some solid defensive efforts, hunting the wingers back into the middle of the field. JACOB CARMODY: Joining the Hawks half way through the season, Carmo is the hard man that makes a big impact coming off the bench in helping out his tired forwards. SANDY ADAM: The ghost of the team, Sandy is the team motivator with his pre-game speeches, delivering to his expectations on the field, holding a strong ride hand edge. CHANDLER POWER: Probably as rugged as his beard, Chandler is a high quality ball runner, making strong charges up the middle, breaking tackles and setting the standard for the forwards. JOE STEWART: Playing for the St Greg’s A grade side and it definitely shows. Joe is a big impact player coming off the bench, having a high work rate gaining plenty of meters in attack and making some damaging tackles. NATHAN MCCARTHY: One of the boarding school boys who is an impact hooker who takes advantage of the tired opposition forwards, Nath has a large influence on the forwards making strong runs up the middle. Nath vows to perform better than his beloved Dragons. RORY BOLGER: Rory has more trouble staying on his feet than he does stepping around defenders, a trait bestowed from his parents, as both have more moves than Elvis. Rory is another one of the boarding school boys who grows in confidence every week, making strong returns from the back with his speed and agility troubling the defence. NICK STEPHENS: Stevo is a man of many trades playing both league and union, with his outstanding defensive game, he can pull off crunching tackles, rattling his opposition. NATHAN SCHOFIELD: Blends his coaching prowess with his wealth of playing experience, Schoie has guided the boys well after a late call up to the position. Schoie expects the boys to finish it in style this weekend. ZEEK WHYBROW: Old head in young person shoes, Zeek loves everything football, he can be relied upon for cool and calm on game day and can be seen putting his hand up when any task needs doing. Guaranteed to be the last to leave come Saturday night. BILLY STANLEY: Billy has shared his times between clubs this year and certainly added plenty to the Hawks Nest – whilst he may favour the cricket nets I guarantee he should not be challenged if a tray of garlic balls make a guest appearance.
