The Binalong Brahmans have voted to return to the George took Shield at tonight’s meeting.
The Brahmans claimed 3 successive Premierships across two competitions when they took out The George Tooke Shield in 2013 and 2014. The club voted to leave George Tooke at the end of the 2014 season after two undefeated years. They lost only one match in the Woodbridge Cup competition in 2015 before also claiming that title. The Club lost the majority of their roster at the end of 2015 when several high profile players returned to the Yass Magpies to compete in Group 8. The 2016 season saw the club perform poorly with only two wins from the regular competition in Woodbridge Cup.
Club Coach and President Ben Spencer suffered a horrific leg injury early in the season which prevented the Brahmans from finishing higher.
Gate takings at both the Brahmans home ground and McLean Oval will no doubt increase, if the vote is carried through to Canberra Rugby league officials and a return is completed. The Brahmans and the Harden Hawks fought a fierce rivalry before the Brahmans left for the Woodbridge Cup.
