The Harden Red Devils will be celebrating 40 years in existence this year with a reunion celebration set down for Saturday September 3 at Robert’s Park. The reunion will coincide with the Devils presentation night for the 2016 team.
Club legend John O’Connor said “The concept for the reunion day is a Hilltops Barbarians versus Devils match, set down to kick off at 2pm. The Barbarians team will be made up of guys who are principally born and bred in Boorowa and Young including players such as Jock Merriman and Tim Corcoran and some of the Mullany boys, just to name a few. They will come up against a Harden 15 of past and present players.”
Delta have come on board and sponsored the Hilltops jumpers which are a design of both the Young and Boorowa clubs mixed together. The shorts for the Hilltops side have been sponsored by Custom Accounting, Oxton Park and the Muddy Duck. The Muddy Duck will also be catering for the evening dinner.
John said “It’s a historic occasion as we will be joining the Devils presentation night with the 40 year celebrations. A number of past players have already said that they will be attending. There is quite a bit going on behind the scenes with a special dvd presentation of past matches over the years to be shown on the night.”
A band will play during the evening and a full bar will be in action reminiscent of the ‘good’ old days. There will be several auction items up for grabs including fencing, electrical work and a 100 club, as well as footy jumpers. Plenty of items are currently being organised for the evening.
