Seven players from the Binalong Brahmans Youth League side have represented Woodbridge Cup against Group 6 on Saturday. It was the local lads who starred for the country side with McMahons Reef product Will Manwaring scoring a try and having another disallowed. The first was set up by Brahman team mate Dylan Arabin, the second try was a disputed off side from a kick where he flew high over the opposition to claim the ball.

Charging runs from Yass’ Harry Morris and Dylan Downey set the platform for the Woodbridge Cup side.

Jake Arabin played a couple of years up in age and didn’t disappoint coming on in the second row.

Marty Smith from Gunning plays B grade Cricket for Harden as well as in the local touch football competition. The talented sportsman came off the bench to star at Hooker with his quick passing and vision.

Josh Barker will no doubt become sought after by rival clubs when he joins the senior ranks in 2017. The Second Rower was solid with his work rate and played his usual high tempo game in both attack and defence.

Dylan Arabin may well be the best player in the Woodbridge Cup competition. Able to play anywhere in the back line, the Woodbridge Cup fullback was dynamic for his side. Dylan scored two tries and was awarded man of the match for his performance in the 22-30 loss.

The boys performed very well and came up against several players who are currently contracted to the West Tigers in the match. They had only had three training sessions before the match and will now continue to train at Grenfell once a week before heading to a round robin at Bathurst in the coming weeks.

Josh Barker told the Times “It was a lot faster than club football and it was a good experience, we had seven players from our side make the rep side.”

There will be no rest for the wicked as the lads head to Condobolin which is a great bus trip or a nightmare depending on your point of view.
