Cootamundra Saleyards & Associated Agents yarded 7978  sheep and Lambs at their fortnightly sale this week. This was a decrease of over 2000 animals from the previous sale.

The sale was made up of 4955 Lambs, 2448 Ewes, 145Hoggets, 185 Wethers, 98 Old Sheep and 145 Rams.

Numbers fell this sale with both lamb & Mutton back on the previous sale. Lamb quality was very mixed with some very good lines of well finished lambs presented

As per usual there was a good numbers of buyers on the rail and once again were very active on the top lines with most lambs up to $ 5.00 to $8.00 dearer than the previous sale, which is well in line with other regional sales

Medium to Heavy Trade lambs sold between $120 to $ 160.20 . Lighter trade lambs made between $100 to $125.00 to be up $5.00

Lighter and unfinished lambs sold to the re stocker at prices between $65.00 to $95.00 to be $2 to $3 up on last sale.

Most agents lead pens made over $150.00

Top price of the sale went to Ian & Jane Bone of Muttama with an outstanding pen of XB lambs that made $160.20, after very spirited bidding, with a number of buyers keen to secure. With an estimated CW of 28 KG and a $10.00 skin they were eventually were knocked down To Southern Meats Golburn. These lambs came back at $5.30 / KG CW.

 JB & B Fisher Stockinbingal again supplied top merino lambs that made $133.00. With estimated 24KG CW & $13.00 jackets they came back at $5.00 / KG CW to be $3.00 up from last sale.

Most trade lambs ranged from $5.00 to $ 5.35  / KG CW to be 15 cents better than last sale.

A mixed run of mutton  was on offer with prices up on the previous sale . Light to Medium  mutton was  $5 to $8 dearer. Heavy mutton was eagerly sought after and was  up to $ 3 better  than the previous sale.

Heavy merino mutton  with big jackets sold to a top of  $110.00 with, while Medium framed  Merino ewes sold between $ 56 & $ 87.00 to the processor.  Light ewes selling from $ 20 to $50.00 .Heavy XB ewes with big skins made up to $107.00. Most mutton in the $3.00 to $ 3.30 / KG CW.

There a limited numbers of hoggets on offer which sold to a top of $110.00 to average $73.00

Rams sold to $ 75.00 to average $53.00
