Harden motorcycle enthusiast Lisa Pontin joined 1,001 women at the Dubbo Showground last weekend for the Dubbo ‘Babe Raid’ to help successfully break two motorcycle world records. Female riders from as far away as Western Australia turned out for the event to break the world records for the largest gathering of female motorcycle riders and the largest number of women riding motorbikes in a parade. The record of 1,002 set in Dubbo shattered that set in England last year, when 661 women rode to the Ace Café in the London suburb of Stonebridge and 246 women rode bikes in a subsequent parade. Lisa rode her Yamaha V Star 650 motorcycle to the event, meeting up at Wallendbeen with a group travelling to the event from Cootamundra. “It was a good atmosphere,” said Lisa. “There were people there from all over Australia.” She was first introduced to motorcycles through her circle of friends four years ago, and has been hooked ever since.
