Arylin Tanson in the new premises.

After 7 years and one week in the old Murrumburrah Post Office building Harden’s House of Honey has found a new home in what was the Stitcher’s building between the Terracotta Restaurant and the P&D Store. Ken Tanson and his wife Arlyn have spent weeks renovating the building, enlarging the front window for good visibility for patrons. Of particular interest are the tiles set out to resemble a bee hive at the entrance. Ken said, “We have people coming from Sydney, Melbourne and even Noosa just to buy our honey. They buy a supply to last many months at a time. When the Cherry festival is on, we have busloads of people stopping to buy our products.” Ken went on to say, “My family are the oldest bee keepers in Australia. I am the 6th generation and the last. We began in Gundaroo and started coming to Harden area in 1971. I moved here in 1988. We have 25 varieties of honey and the biggest range of bee products in the country.” The House of Honey is open for business from 9 until 4.30 Thursday to Monday. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Check out the brand new premises and the incredible stock of everything with a bee flavour. Murrumburrah just gets more interesting every day.
