A Grade Runners Up, Jackson’s Bakery and Cafe.

The A grade Grand Final was contested between 2016’s ‘hottest’ side the Light Horse Hotel and the ever consistent, Jackson’s Bakery.

The Light Horse have talent all over the park and plenty of speed to go with it and used it to their advantage, running out winners 2 tries to nil. Will Manwaring and Jacob West each got a meat pie, whilst Tyler Allen for Jackson’s, was unlucky on several occasions not to get over the white line. The fast pace of the match provided spectators with plenty of hair raising moments.

B Grade Runners Up, ABC Freighters.

There was plenty of emotion and plenty of intensely played touch football in the match between the ABC Freighters and Johnno’s Painting.

Johnnos may have gone in to the match as slight underdogs however it was former veteran Group 9 Centre, Brenden Ford and up and coming Hawks Centre/Backrower, Justin Stewart who put points on the board for Johnnos. Cara Phillis went in for ABC, however the Freighters couldn’t muster any more points, with Johnnos running out winners 2-1.

The C Grade Grand Final saw the Retro come up against the Binalong Bangers in what was a very close match. Matt Schofield, Scott Chesworth and Hayley Chesworth all went in for the Retro whilst Luke Oldfield and J. Bannister touched down for the Bangers. Schofield saved the day for the Retro chasing down Bannister in a length of the field effort and then proceeded to make the next 4 touches to prevent a try, which would have seen an eventual draw and drop off. Retro 3 Bangers 2.

D Grade Runners Up, Smashing Cherries.

Wii Not Fit have got by all year allowing teams to think they are not fit. This was obviously not the case last night when they accounted for the Smashing Cherries in a 5-0 pink wash. Tries went to Abbey Wade, Ann Sharmon, T Dumbrell and Keith Smith. The bottom of the scoresheet was marked “C grade next year'” by an unknown player or person, possibly from the opposing team. It may come true with a performance like that.

E Grade Runners Up, The Jugiong Jackasses.

The E Grade Final resulted in a drop off, which saw Robert Scott Electrical get home in a thriller. Lui Polimeni was at his usual best for the ‘Gong’ and notched up two tries on the score sheet, with Kelvin Hillier chipping in with one. Hannah Madden went in for 2 for Robert Scott whilst Ryan Daley offered a try to tie the match up at the end of the 30 minutes. Daley moves well in the water and proves he is just as elusive on land when he scored the winner sealing the match for the sparkies.

Ged Davis and Maryanne Fitzgerald thanked all of the players, sponsors and committee for their efforts over the 2015/2016 season whilst Ged made special mention of Gerard Percival and his involvement over many years.
