Mayor John Horton is calling on residents to make it to the Harden Country on April 5 at 2pm.

Harden Shire Council Mayor John Horton, has again issued the call for residents to attend and speak at the Public Inquiry on the Cootamundra-Gundagai-Harden merger proposal at the Harden Country Club on April 5th. The Inquiry will begin at the more palatable time of 2:00pm and will finish at 5:00pm. To attend and speak, one will again have to register. Registrations can be made by calling 1300 813 020 or online at http://www.councilboundaryreview.nsw.gov.au/proposals/cootamundra-shire-gundagai-shire-and-harden-shire-councils/ Registrations to speak close this Friday April 1st at 12 noon, and registrations to attend close at 9:00am on Monday April 4th. A letterbox drop has already taken place with Mayor John Horton imploring ratepayers to attend the meeting. The Public Inquiry is the second in the last two months, and many of us, including the staff of the Twin Town Times, are finding it difficult to muster up the motivation for this upcoming inquiry. However, the community of the Harden Shire is again asked to turn out and state their opinions on the Cootamundra-Gundagai-Harden proposal. “We need to rally the troops,” said Mayor Horton at the March Business Meeting “We have put up opposition to the Harden-Boorowa-Young option. Now we have to respond,” said Assistant General Manager Trevor Drowley. “Numbers again will have a significant impact on the Government.” “Comments from the last inquiry will not be carried over to this inquiry,” he added.
