Jugiong will be holding a meeting at the Memorial Hall tonight at 7:00pm, to discuss the Harden, Boorowa, and Young forced amalgamation.
One of the topics to be tabled and voted upon will be for Jugiong to be incorporated into the Cootamundra-Gundagai forced merger if the New South Wales Government chooses to proceed with it.
Jugiong residents have previously stated their wish to go with Cootamundra and Gundagai, due to the greater distance between Jugiong and Young, the expected administrative centre of a Harden, Boorowa and Young merged Council. The distance between Jugiong and Young (68km) is roughly equivalent to the distance between Harden and Yass, whereas the distance from Jugiong to Cootamundra is only 40km.
