Applications for grants from the Community Initiatives Programs were assessed at a meeting of the Donations Committee on December 14th, with 12 applications being approved. The Committee consisting of Councillor Cathy Sanderson, Mr Rod Ceeney and Acting Director of Corporate Services for Harden Shire Council, Simon Doolan, assessed each of the fourteen applications received, and committed to $21,000 in grants.
Recipients who received $500 in Level 1 funding are: the Harden Murrumburrah Rugby League Football Club for sponsorship assistance; The Murrumburrah Light Horse Troop for Word War I Centenary commemorations; Advancing Harden-Murrumburrah for the Australia Day Celebration in 2015; and, the Harden Murrumburrah Historical Society Inc to assist with the production of Historical Society Bulletins. Level 2 funding recipients include: the Wombat Progress Association, which receives $500 and $350 in-kind for the annual Australia Day ceremony; Harden-Murrumburrah Twin Towns Rodeo receives $4,000 and $1,000 in-kind for the running of the rodeo; The Murrumburrah-Harden Show Society has been granted $1,500 and $500 in-kind to assist with the 128th Annual Show; The Harden & District Picnic Race Committee has been given $4,000 and $1,000 in-kind for the annual Picnic Races; The Harden Polocrosse Club gets $1,500 to promote its yearly tournament to attract more visitors to fund facility upgrades; the Harden Kite Festival Committee is the recipient of $4,000 with $1,570 in-kind for the Kite Festival; the Harden Murrumburrah Arts Council Inc receives $2,000 to increase participation in junior art classes and offer classes to adults with correct equipment; and, the Harden Murrumburrah Gentle Exercise Group will get $1,500 to conduct gentle exercise classes. Two applications were rejected as they pertained to the acquisition of equipment, which does not come under the purview of the Community Initiatives Fund.
