Traffic around dusk each day has been growing over the past fortnight, with many of us putting our children or even ‘fur children’ into the back of the car to look at the amazing array of Christmas light displays throughout the town. The ‘Santa Street’ title has two front runners in Clarke Street and Scott Street. The usually dark streets have been transformed into avenues of bright and colourful lights, with residences displaying unique flair and creativity. The Chesworth house on the Jellambi Road and another on the Back Demondrille Road can be seen from most points around town, but they are definitely worth seeing up close. Another house in Queen Street, as well as several along the length of Albury Street, are noteworthy as well. Some lights include depictions of traditional nativity scenes, whilst others have Santa Claus riding anything from motorbikes to aeroplanes. Laser lights have also added a new dimension to some displays in the town. Regardless of the undoubtedly large energy bills, the Christmas light displays liven up the town and are an essential part of a warm December evening’s drive. Be sure to get into the Christmas spirit and join the slow-moving convoy checking out the lights around town.
