The Choir of the Southern Cross performing at the Ross Memorial Church on Saturday. Members in include Local Legends Stewart Bruce, Barry Wooldridge, and Ian & Lorna Baird.

The Ross Memorial Church enjoyed a marvellous centenary celebration over the weekend, which began with a concert on Saturday evening. The beautiful church, which is built more in the style of an amphitheatre with a floor sloping towards the altar and pipe organ, was the ideal location for a concert which included the Choir of the Southern Cross, the Cootamundra Uniting Church Choir, the Boorowa M&D Choir and the Brass Ensemble of the Young School of Music. Soloists also performed a variety of pieces at the concert, with John & Edward Roxburgh opening and closing the event with a bagpipe and drum. Liz Boland played two pieces on the flute by Hyde and Telemann, and David Powell played several pieces on the pipe organ, including one written by him especially for the occasion. Peter & Julie O’Connor sang both individually and as a duet, along with Southern Highlands couple, Denise & Jim Layton. Greg Jamieson also performed two pieces by Armando Manzanero and Elton John. The concert was followed by a Centenary Church Service on Sunday morning, which featured the cutting of a cake by Betty McKinnon and David Ross. Jock & Elsie Ross, two descendants of Mr & Mrs William E. Ross, who built the church in 1915 in memory of their parents, were also baptised at the service. The service was followed by a luncheon at the Harden Country Club.
