He later completed his Diploma of Education, and took up his first teaching position at Yanco High School in 1975, beginning a busy 36 year teaching career. On the 17th of December, 1977, Ian married his wife Lorna Bayliss at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Wagga Wagga. Lorna is the first cousin of the current coach of the English cricket team, Trevor Bayliss. “After he was appointed, I sent him a text saying: ‘Congratulations! But Australia still has to win the Ashes!’” she said. ………
