A B-Double caught alight at around 4:00am this morning, causing traffic to be diverted through Harden-Murrumburrah.

The car-carrying truck caught alight six kilometres north of Jugiong, with two crews from Jugiong and two crews from Berremangra responding to the call to the incident at 4:15am.

“The fire started in the Prime Mover, and the drivers didn’t have enough time to unhook the trailer,” said Jugiong Rural Fire Service Captain, Kevin Fairall. “One of the blokes came out barefoot and didn’t even have enough time to put his shoes on.”

“By the time we got there, it was well alight. There no stopping it and there was no time to save anything. It was a very hot fire, and it took an hour to get under control.”

The truck was carrying BMWs and Volkswagens, and the damage bill is yet unclear.

Traffic has been diverted through Harden, and it is unclear when the Hume Highway will be reopened.
