The Australia Day Awards nominations for 2016 are now open, with the closing date for nominations set for December 23rd, 2015. Nominations are to be in writing, with a short resume to be included about the person being nominated. Nominations are open for the following categories: Junior Citizen of the Year; Senior Citizen of the Year; Community Involvement in Sport; Citizen of the Year; and a Towncare Award for voluntary work to improve public areas in the Shire. Nominations to be submitted to the organisers of the Australia Day Awards, Lorraine Brown at West End Gift Shop or Councillor Chris Manchester. An Ambassador has again been requested from the Australia Day Council to be present on Australia Day at the Australia Day Awards & Breakfast in the Park at Newson Park on January 26, 2016. Last year’s Ambassador was former Wallaby and Randwick Rugby Union Club stalwart, Jeff Sayle OAM.
