Lifeguards Robynn Sargent, Michael Burns and Harden Shire Pool Manager Mellissa Ings are primed for the upcoming season. They are among nearly 20 life guards to take care of patrons this season at Harden and Jugiong Swimming Pools.

The Harden Memorial Swimming Pool will be opening this Saturday at 11:00 am with a free entry day to kick off the 2015/2016 swimming season. Opening times will be from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Sunday, with the Jugiong Pool to open on November 14. Pool entry prices remain unchanged from last year, with one exception. “This year there will be a season ticket for pensioners, which will be the same price as a children’s season ticket,” said Pool Manager, Mellissa Ings. The price of a pensioner’s and children’s season ticket for entry into both Harden and Jugiong swimming pools is $65, with adults $90 and families $185. Season tickets are available for purchase at the Harden Shire Council Chambers. One-off admission for both Harden and Jugiong is $3 for both children and pensioners, $4 for adults, and $12 for adults. Non-swimming parents and guardians gain free admission. The Jugiong Pool will open on November 14 with opening times 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday to Friday, 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturdays and Sundays. Season tickets for Jugiong only are $35 for both children and pensioners, $54 for adults and $115 for families.

Morning swim training is 5:30am-7:30am Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Harden Swimming Club commences on Monday November 2, starting at 3:45 pm and finishing at 6:00 pm, with registration to be taken on the day. Jugiong Swimming Club will resume some time in December. Both pools will be enjoying aqua aerobics this year, with sessions beginning with Mel Brownhill on Mondays at Harden on November 9 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Sessions with Tina McGrath at Harden will begin on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on November 10, whilst Mellissa Ings will begin at the Jugiong Pool on Tuesday nights 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm from November 17. Sport and Recreation Swimming lessons will be held from December 7 through to December 17, instructed by Jess Sargent. For all bookings, please call 131 302. For those who are a little more advanced with their swimming, the Shine Shield will be held at Harden on January 13, and at Jugiong on January 16. Parents are reminded that all children under the age of five must wear a ‘keep watch’ wristband. This means that parents need to be within arms of reach of children in this age group. The Harden Memorial Swimming Pool will close on March 27, with the Jugiong Swimming Pool to close on March 13.
