The premier weekly social event for Harden Murrumburrah and surrounds will be back on Thursday October 15 at Robert’s Park. The Harden Touch Football Association has grown over the years from a few teams to include 28 sides in last year’s competition. The Association held their Annual General Meeting last Thursday night with some changes to the committee. A bumper season looks to be on the cards again and no doubt teams will be on the phone to each other in an attempt to bolster their playing stocks.
All executive positions in the committee were filled for the upcoming competition. Thank you to those who attended the meeting and took on positions. Ged Davis (President), Craig Phillis (Vice President), Maryanne Fitzgerald (Secretary), Amanda Chesworth (Treasurer), Darren Prosser (Referee coordinator), Marg Akrigg (Bar/Canteen Coordinator) and Julie Doolan, Brian Innes, Scott Chesworth, Dave Bolger and Cara Phillis (General Committee Members). The competition will kick off on Thursday 15th October, 6pm at Robert’s Park. Nominations are now being called for teams of up to 14 players.
Nomination packs are available from Cooper’s Choice Cut Butchery and Lighthorse Hotel. All nomination forms and team fee of $500.00 must be handed to the committee by the captain or a representative at the Harden Touch Online Registration and Captains’ Meeting Night on Thursday 8th October, 7pm at the Trinity School Library. Teams paying on the night will pay an “early bird” fee of $500.00 and those paying after this and before round 2 will pay $600.00. Team who are not financial by the end of round 2 will not be permitted to play. All team players must be registered online or will not be permitted to play due to NSW Touch rulings.
There will be a limit of 32 teams. The Harden Touch rules regarding the number and age of players and makeup of the team on the field are all included in the nomination pack. Team captains are advised to read and understand the rules before submitting their teams as teams are unable to be changed once the competition has commenced. It is also advised to carefully select players in your team so that once school returns following the Christmas break your team is not left short of players. New registrations will not be taken after the break. So mark the following dates and times in your diary so you don’t miss out on the 2015/2016 touch season.
