Grace Kemp began playing basketball three years ago with the Young Pacers when she was in Year 6. The year 9 Hennessy Catholic College student has quickly excelled in her chosen sport and has been selected to join the Western Region Basketball Academy. Grace has represented St Mary’s and Hennessy Catholic College during her short career. Grace’s height advantage means she is an excellent defender and goal shooter.
Because of her recent performances Grace has been awarded a one year scholarship with the Western Region Academy of Sport based in Bathurst. Her current coach played college basketball in the US after having gone through the WRAS. Grace will be put through an individual program which focuses on nutrition, strength and condition which is linked with CSU sports scientists. Athletes such as Kurt Fearnley have been through this program.
Grace is very excited about the scholarship, as she is the only representative from a small town and is still relatively new to the game. Grace will play in Academy games in Sydney in January 2016. Good Luck Grace!
