The Murrumburrah-Harden Springtime Show was held in beautiful sunshine, for once, at the Murrumburrah Showground last week, with attendance superseding the 2014 Show’s numbers. Zoe Woods was crowned Miss Showgirl for 2015, after Citizen of the Year, Dorothy Smith, opened the Show on Friday. The Show featured high quality displays both inside and outside the Pavilion. “Kevin Bradford told me that the quality of the sheep was outstanding, and it was very difficult do judge,” said Show Secretary, Judy Shea, who is still tired from organising the event.

Demondrille Merino Stud cleaned up at the Show, taking home eight awards at the event, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Highest Value Fleece Competition. The result bodes well for the Stud ahead of its on-site sale on September 22. Entries into the Pavilion for multiple categories were marked by a significant number of younger entrants. Categories included Lego creations, beer brewing, millinery, artwork and cake baking. “There are some very talented people around,” said Judy. Some people dominated in their categories, such as

Graham Chalker for Homebrew, Rhiannon Mackie in Millinery, and Lorna Battye, who was the Most Successful Exhibitor at the Show. Others, thankfully, showed marked improvement in their entries. “Ashley [Jones] didn’t burn the cake this year,” said Judy. Ashley came second in the Men’s Packet Cake category. The Yard Dogs proved to be a popular attraction yet again, with over 130 entries for the competition and many spectators there to witness the skill, discipline and teamwork between man and dog.

The Murrumburrah-Harden Show Society received gate takings of $9,700.00, $300.00 short of the $10,000.00 all-time record. The Murrumburrah-Harden Show Society would like to thank all the helpers, volunteers and sponsors who helped to organise, set-up and run the Murrumburrah-Harden Spring Time Show.
