Chloe Wade was taken down in this challenge on Saturday.
The Coopers Choice Cuts Butchery Under 12s & 13s soccer team put on a thrilling display in their Grand Final against Tumut last Saturday, going down by one point 2-1. In a physical encounter with the undefeated Tumut side, Clementine Flanery gave early hope to her side with a good strike resulting in a goal in the first half of the match. Tumut bounced back, however, scoring a goal of their own to equalise the scores at 1-1.
The game continued with the strong encouragement of the crowd, who witnessed a strong display of teamwork and skill from the Harden side. The team was the only Harden soccer side to make it to the Grand Final stage, a true testament to their efforts throughout the season. Harden’s hopes of victory were dashed by a penalty kick taken in Harden’s penalty box, resulting in a goal for Tumut with ten minutes to go. Unfortunately for Harden, the game finished with a 2-1 victory to Tumut.
“They were probably unlucky there,” said Coach Greg Brown. “I am very proud of their effort. It was perhaps the best game they played all year.” “Jordan Phelan and Max Spackman were good in the backs. They were busy all game,” he added. Greg also gave a special mention to the midfield of Jetta Kennett, Mitchell Brown and Chloe Wade. Chloe was brought down in a hard tackle by a Tumut defender, but stood back up to put in a very strong performance. “Chloe was really good,” said Greg.
The team went into the game as underdogs, finishing second in the competition to Tumut, who went through the season undefeated. Congratulations to the Coopers Choice Cuts Under 12s & 13s girls and boys, it was a tremendous effort. Well done indeed.
