Paul Shea joked, “You can head to training at any drinking establishment in town.” The over 35s rugby league side don’t take the training as seriously as in their younger days, however the footy is pretty serious when they hit the paddock on the Gold Coast on March 5, 6 and 7.
Paul said, “We have had some players drop out this year and are calling on anyone between the ages of 35 and 100 to join us in a great weekend. We play 2 games on the first 2 days and 1 game on day 3 for a total of 5 games across 3 days, there will be a debrief afterwards at the Gold Coast races.”
Many former locals such as Phil Ware, Paul Cleary and John Beasley make the annual trip.
Paul said there are different levels of contact for different age groups but if you’re under 45 its still the normal rules of full contact.
