After a two year hiatus, 8,250 books currently housed at the old Scout Hall in Albury Street will again see the light of day. A new bookshop, A Tale of Two Cities, owned by Zac Hobba, will take up where Churchill Books left off when it reopens at 10:00am this Saturday. However, A Tale of Two Cities bookshop has a whole lot more to offer.

“In addition to the 8,250 books that were already here, there are another 2 to 3 thousand to come,” said Zac. “We also have vinyl records, and I am going to bring in my record player so people can listen to them.”

Zac acquired the bookshop in January from Connie Johnson and her husband Mike in January 2015, after being closed since 2012. Zac previously studied graphic design and worked for Harden Shire Council, but the desire to work for himself proved irresistible.

“I wanted to have the bookshop as a challenge,” said Zac, who lists some of his favourite authors as Jeffrey Archer and Lee Childs.

A Tale of Two Cities has books on topics such as diverse as military history, photography, architecture and Australiana, comic books, vinyl records, vintage magazines catering to many different tastes, as well as hundreds, if not thousands, of books by a multitude of fiction authors.

Zac has many antique, limited and first edition books which are quite valuable, with some copies dating back to the 18th century. But Zac is still cataloguing the collection and there may be a few more surprises in store.

The grand opening of A Tale of Two Cities bookshop will take place at 10:00am this Saturday at the old Scout Hall in Albury Street, with opening hours from 10:00am to 5:30pm on Mondays, and Wednesdays through to Sundays, with Wednesdays being a Senior’s Discount day. The shop will be closed on Tuesdays.
