Harden Shire Council have lodged an application to acquire Crown Land at the Harden Racecourse. After engaging in discussions with Minister for Natural Resources, Land and Water, Kevin Humphries, Harden Shire Council lodged a formal application as part of an effort to establish a business park on the land.
“The land is a natural extension of the existing water and sewer services,” said Harden Shire Council General Manager (GM), Trevor Drowley.
The land is also earmarked by Council as a site for a possible Rural Fire Service (RFS) Regional Headquarters.
“The Council is committed to the RFS Headquarters,” said GM Drowley. “Council will pick up the cost of water and sewage, with no cost to be borne by the RFS.”
It is not uncommon for Crown Land acquisition applications to take between 6 and 9 months. However, with the application’s backing by Minister Humphries, Council is optimistic that the outcome of the application may be known by March 2015.
