A ‘little bit of magic’ has taken over at St Lawrence Southern Cross Apartments in honour of the festive season. The staff presented a rendition of Cinderella last Friday for the entertainment of residents and their guests, but not quite the version we are familiar with.
Rob Provan who did a ‘bit of a job’ on the script, which came from an English Aged Care facility. Rob and Debbie Tonkin, Lifestyle Officer, produced an hilarious version of the well known fairy tale.
Staff spent break time rehearsing for the event and thought they had the performance in hand, however the
ad-libbing and consultation with their scripts only served to make the performance even funnier. They were dressed in spectacular costumes and the carriage had to be seen to be believed. Rob was the narrator and led the group in the singing.
Judy Pirie and Narelle White stole the show as the ugly twin sisters. Danny Allen played the prince and Julie Jackson was Cinderella. The fairy godmother, Brett Strange was a sight to behold in purple pants and spangled top.
Around 80 residents and friends were on hand to enjoy the performance. Robyn Carroll who played the ‘big man in red’ said, “We can’t wait for next years production.” She enjoyed helping with the props for the show.
Rob Provan is planning on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for 2015 and he is eager to play a dwarf. We are looking forward to that one Rob!
Staff have also excelled themselves this year with their decorated doors. It has almost become a challenge to be the decorator of the best resident’s door. Many hours of crafty handiwork have been necessary to produce Snowmen, Santa’s, Nativity Scenes, Santa’s Train among others.
St Lawrence’s really has the Christmas spirit.
