Brittany Heywood will be the female ‘Face of the Carnival’ for the 2015 season for the Murrumbidgee Turf Club (MTC) in Wagga next year. Brittany will join Tom Keogh, 19, as the ‘Faces of the Carnival’ after they took out the title from 11 entrants.
Brittany said “I love the Gold Cup and I wanted the opportunity to see the other side of racing. I love the whole atmosphere of the race and the Gold Cup Carnival, everybody is dressed beautifully”.
Brittany is often seen at the track helping out her father, trainer Chris, around the stables and on race days.
She said “As part of the prize I have won an overseas holiday, but they haven’t told me where it is yet, it will be a surprise.”
MTC Promotions Manager Michelle Blacklock said the field for the ‘Faces of the Carnival’ was strong this year. Mr Keogh and Ms Heywood’s social skills and knowledge made them standouts from all of the other entrants. Ms Blacklock said they were both impressive at an evening dinner hosted by the Murrumbidgee Turf Club last week.
The pair will feature in all the advertising material for the Gold Cup, enjoy promotional duties on the major race days and the 100 club gala night.
Ms Blacklock said getting to know the entrants had been an enjoyable process. “Entrants have tons of fun during the judging process, with the winners’ faces becoming very well known in the Wagga area,” she said.
