The Snowy Hydro SouthCare Car Bash was held last Friday, Saturday and Sunday raising over $11,000 for the Rescue Helicopter service.
The three day event saw 17 rally cars travel on mostly dirt roads from Yass to Binalong via Wee Jasper, Tumut, Junee and Cootamundra. Stopping at the towns for meals and to stay overnight.
Organisers, David and Tracey Read, held this bash in honour of Binalong local Greg Bourlet, who passed away from cancer just over 12 months ago. Greg was a regular in these rallies with his good friends and team mates Wayne Dawe and David Bonnet in his “095” car.
Wayne and David continue to compete in Car “095” when they can and in this rally they took along Greg’s son Josh and friend Terry Apps as their co-drivers. The “095” team were awarded the trophy for raising the second highest amount in this bash with over $2,500.
The teams raise money by having sponsors who’s names are displayed on their rally cars and undertaking other fundraising activities for each rally. Rally events like this are held all over Australia raising much needed money for charities.
Snowy Hydro SouthCare Rescue Helicopter has been in operation for 15 years and is the primary provider of Aero-Medical and Rescue Helicopter services to people in the ACT and South-Eastern NSW. Since that time, the Rescue Helicopter has completed over 5500 missions, many of those life-saving.
