The Harden swimming pool will open this Saturday at 11am commencing the 2014/2015 season with Jugiong opening on the 22nd of November. A temperature of 34 degrees has been forecast and with free entry on the opening day, Pool Manager Mellissa Ings is encouraging all residents to make their way to the pool.
The newly installed barbeque was available last year and she hopes that more families will come to the pool and make use of the free barbeque again this season. “The barbeque is free to use and it is a great way for families and anyone else in the community to cool off at the end of the day at the pool and feed the family.” Mellissa said.
After trialing vending machines last year at Harden and Jugiong operating through the assistance of their volunteer swimming club members it has been decided that both pools will have a fully functional canteen for patrons to use throughout the season.
Harden will be open from 11-7pm Monday to Sunday. When Jugiong opens on November 22 their hours of operation will be Monday to Friday 2-7pm and Saturday and Sunday 12-7pm. During the Christmas to New Year period, Jugiong will be open 12-7pm everyday to take advantage of the many travellers that stop during the holiday period.
Season tickets can be purchased for Jugiong today and tomorrow, between 3-5 pm at the Jugiong pool and at any time for both Harden and Jugiong during business hours at the Harden Shire Council offices.
Mellissa said “Swimmers must bring their season tickets with them each time they come to the pool to gain entry and we will be able to store them on site if they wish.”
The baby pool at Harden has a newly installed ‘Wet Deck’ which will make it easier on small children and parents to access the pool.
Melissa said “the pool temperature is sitting at around 24 degrees which is getting close to perfect for swimming.”
Morning swims will commence at Harden on Monday November 10 from 5.30-7.30am. Aqua Aerobics classes are also being conducted again this year and information can be provided by calling Mellissa on 0437 827 860.
