14 groups or 56 players all led out in a shotgun start at 10.30am on Sunday to kick off the Holden Scramble at the Harden Country Club.
It seems all of our agitation worked and we fielded 14 groups on Sunday thereby ensuring a regional qualifier and recording Harden Country Club’s support as well as that of the major sponsor Harden Geelan Holden’s 23 consecutive event.
Firstly special thanks must go to Jamie Harden of Harden Geelan Holden in Young for coming on board again to help keep this event on the calendar. Jamie and his crew were in attendance on the day helping with the bbq and also the enquiries about the Scramble discount of $550 off any new car purchase after playing in the event.
Additionally special thanks goes to our Club’s local Professional Phil Cartwright of the Young Pro Shop who marshalled the troops, scored, receipted and was there for all of the golfers needs. It was much appreciated.
As it had been all weekend, the course was great and the scoring was hot. The 4 Man Ambrose was played under the select shot elimination method of ambrose and this can be just incredibly frustrating.
Proving they had it all going on was Gary Wales, Brian Wales, Kyle Murray and John Hawkins with a whopping 10 under par. Gary, Brian, Kyle and Hawkeye ended up at least 2 shots clear of the field on nett (54.5) and now get to compete at the regional event in Canberra in the next few weeks at the Federal Course.
Runners Up from Cootamundra Az Kelly, Anthony Wells, Heath Myers and Darren Blacklock posted a 56 3/8 whilst third place on a countback went to the Young crew of Jim Glasheen, Bob Stone, Paul Blizzard and Mick Kentwell on 56.75.
Finishing on the same score but falling short of a trophy on a countback were Justyn Smith, David Harris, Peter Guthrie and Zac Craw from Cootamundra also.
Again, our thanks are extended to Harden Geelan and Professional Phil Cartwright for a very successful event.
