Buyers came from Tumut, Adelong, Holbrook, Albury and West Wyalong to name a few to attend the annual on farm Beggan Hill Hereford sale on Friday 15 August.
The stud established in 1952 has continued to provide those in the industry with stock of an impeccable nature and conformation. Harvey Jones has the animals very quiet as they are handled regularly.
The top priced bull was Lot 6 “Beggan Hill Hopeful” and sold for $7,000. The second highest price was Lot 9 “Beggan Hill Hangover” which sold for $6,200. Both bulls were bought by Alastair McCoy from West Wyalong along with Lot 13 “Beggan Hill Hayman” for $3500. McCoy also purchased the top priced bull at last year’s sale.
The Stewart family pictured bought the 3rd highest priced bull for the day along with Lot 17 “Beggan Hill Hunt” for $3,500. Five females with claves at foot were offered with the highest price being $3,000.
The average for the bulls for the day was $3,517.65. Harvey said he was very pleased with the sale and is looking forward to next year.
The Jones family would like to thank the purchasers, underbidders, Murrumburrah High School for providing the catering and the farm club for their assitance. They would also like to thank all of their sponsors.
