Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor met with participants of the Horizons Scholarship program at Parliament House on Wednesday, including four undergraduate students from Cootamundra and Harden.

Mr Taylor said the Horizons Scholarship program, coordinated by RIRDC, is about supporting youth in agriculture. Importantly, it focuses on fostering their contributions toward the Australian agricultural industry.
“Supporting the next generation of leaders is central to the future of agriculture. I have worked in agriculture for most of my life and I am convinced the future is fantastic. But we need a younger generation coming into the sector, and the Horizons Scholarship programme is playing a really important role.
“It is particularly encouraging that the Horizons Scholar program provides these students with an opportunity to learn about sectors outside of their own. In my experience, learning about how other sectors work is a huge aid to innovation and growth in agriculture.” Mr Taylor said it was great to spend time with the scholars from Hume, sharing his experiences in the industry, and providing his support as they build their skills for the future.
