Belinda Kerrison, Mark and Rosemaree Irving are busy raising funds for “Bravehearts”.
Hetty Johnson is the founder and Executive Director of Bravehearts. She said “That if we think of five children that we know and love, statistically at least one of them has been or will be sexually assaulted in some way before the age of 18. The strategic plan of Bravehearts is to educate, empower and protect children. These actions are estimated to save $5.2 billion in costs associated with the ramifications of child sexual assault on survivors, their families and the community.
Child sexual assault can have long term impacts including mental health issues, emotional problems, relationship difficulties and physical concerns.
Bravehearts has been operating since 1997 offering counselling, support, advocacy and awareness programs. ‘Dittos Keep Safe Adventure’ is a program suitable for use in schools and it consist of teacher/ parent information, personal safety performance and activity booklets.
A cake stall will be held on the 2nd of August and a raffle with prizes consisting of a load of wood, $50 gift voucher to Coopers Choice Cut Butchery and a bottle of wine.
Fundraising allows programs to be run in schools. The more children we educate the more we can keep safe.
