“To look back at it now i would do it again”. 25 year Shahid Khalfan put his name in with a mate of his as a dare to be on the television show ‘When Love Comes To Town’. He thought it would be some fun.
When Shahid’s mate wasn’t selected in the final process and got the flick Shahid was chosen and things started moving quickly. Shahid said the producers did a couple of single camera interviews, a Skype interview and then set a date and arrived with a full television crew.
The show was shot during the first week of December in 2013 during the warm summer weather. Shahid appeared on the show finale last night and though he said he and Nikki are not together now he really enjoyed the time they spent together and that neither of them are off the market for dating purposes. Shahid said that over 6 months later after the original filming they still keep in contact.
On last week’s show Shahid was made to perform 50 pushups in an attempt to sneak a kiss from Nikki. “She started double counting in the 20s and I did far more than 50 pushups in the end”
Shahid studied Veterinary Science at Charles Sturt University at Wagga and was also a part of a premiership winning Rugby Union side during his time there. He has been living in Kempsey for the last 2 years and said he will be finishing up soon, then he hopes to travel around as a locum throughout Australia before the possibility of heading overseas.
Shahid said he has thought about returning to Harden in the future. “It has played a big part in my up bringing and I love that part of the world”. Shahid enjoys working outdoors, getting his hands dirty and working with larger animals such as the horses on the show. No Doubt Harden Murrumburrah would be very pleased to have Shahid and his skills to the area but for now he will have to endure being recognised most places he goes.
