Murrumburrah Public School will host the 2014 Variety NSW AHA Bash today, as they welcome over 75 cars and drivers to the school. The charity Bash left Newcastle on Sunday the 18th and has travelled through Jervis Bay, Moruya, Merimbula, Numeralla and Goulburn before it arrives in Harden Murrumburrah at 12 noon.
The Children’s Charity is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh & learn.
By giving practical equipment, programs and experiences, Variety helps children in need to overcome whatever obstacles they face and live life to the fullest. Simply put they help kids be kids.
75, pre-1975 manufactured vehicles will be visiting the school with some special events planned. Egg and spoon races, sack races and a tug of war will be held along with a ‘crap in a box’ kindly organised by the High School Farm Club. A calf will be on hand to graze over a small area with a 100 club style set of squares marked out on the ground. The first time the calf relieves itself will determine the winner.
Over 500 people are expected to be on hand on today with children from Bunyip, Murrumburrah High and Trinity Catholic Schools attending over the afternoon.
A gourmet bbq lunch will be available and Principal Clare Crawford said she was “grateful to the event organisers for allowing them to showcase the school”, she said that Variety had made a significant donation to the school for them to purchase materials to assist children with learning needs.
Clare said that members of the general public are welcome to attend.
