Founded in Belguim in 1872, Sibelco has grown into a multi-national business with more than 245 mining and production facilities in the world.
Sibelco began operations in Australia in 2000 and now employ over 1300 workers between Australia and New Zealand. They acquired the Galong mine from Boral in March 2012.
Mayor Chris Manchester organised the meeting between the Member for Hume Angus Taylor and the Sibelco representatives. Mr Taylor said, “I’m working closely with Council to realise just these kinds of opportunities for business growth. With this in mind I welcomed the chance to engage with Sibelco and hear their plans for the development of their business. Truck movements in particular are a big concern for the community and I can assure people I will always be looking to do the best for local residents. The bottom line is, it’s great we’ve got business investing in the region.”
