Wind gusts of 80kmh and 100mm of rain caused extensive damage to parts of the Harden Shire late Wednesday afternoon. A power pole was blown over and landed on a house in Whitton Lane, damaging a fence. Essential Energy arrived at the scene and promptly dealt with the issue.
Several large trees in Jugiong were uprooted close to the campground and rest area, and further work was carried out to damaged powerlines with several homes and businesses unable to be reconnected for 24 hours.
Footage of the storm was taken at the Jugiong Roadhouse and aired on Prime 7 news on Thursday night. The Jugiong Pool pumping shed was also damaged, forcing it to be shut while repairs were carried out on the pumping equipment.
Harden recieved only a few mm of rain due to the nature of the storm, but strong winds hit the area. The radar image on the Bureau of Meteorology displayed a narrow storm front with heavy rain falling, explaining how the storm managed to do so much damage.
